Next week is one of my favorite holidays ever. Valentine’s day is full of red and pink elements, vendors in the street selling teddy bears, and the hottest restaurants overflowed with reservations. Luckily for me, I won’t have to worry for another holiday gift. I used to get fully excited in the past, expecting my boyfriend’s gift or that secret admirer letter from high school. As I entered the new year single and fabulous, I have come to understand that the most important love of all is Self-Love. Some women and men get discouraged to be alone during this holiday, but when you begin to love yourself more, the need of being with someone is not as strong. This year God closed me doors to old relationships and opened new doors to self discovery. So instead of hating on Valentine’s day celebrate yourself.
When you value yourself and focus on your own needs, you start feeling happier. The more you love yourself, the more you can love others. Self-love requires practice. Write yourself a letter of your best qualities, go to the gym, schedule a massage, go shopping, and do the things that set your heart on fire. Look extra glamorous on Valentine’s day even if you do not have a significant other. You might as well find love outside your door. Dress up and wear your best outfit. As Cara Alwill Leyba calls it; raising your Glam Vibration. This means doing things that make you feel extra beautiful. I was already decided to wear black for Valentine’s day until I saw this red dress from Earthy Chic Boutique. Not only is red the color of passion and love, but research has proven that women get more attention when they wear this specific color. Being your own Valentine means embracing your uniqueness. Plan a date with yourself and do things that you enjoy doing alone.
I was once told in an event that the more you go out alone the more you get to know yourself. If this year happens to be a lonely Valentine for you, remember that you always have God and your fabulous self. There is nobody that can love you more than you. Strolling around the city with this red dress from The Jetset Diaries made me feel like a red carpet celebrity. Hope your plans for Valentine’s Day are fabulous!
