Last week, I wore this pastel ensemble for Miami Swim Week. I got a lot of compliments for it and all I can say is, this has been one of my favorite outfits to date. Matching prints is a trend that’s been coming season after season. The print that is on trend at the moment is Gingham. Gingham has been around for decades. This look is inspired in the 1940s from designer Gilbert Adrian. Adrian was known for his whimsical hostess dresses and use of fabrics such as rayon, sunny prints that evoked the American countryside theme. Well, I think I made it the Miami countryside theme this time.
What to Wear with Gingham
Adrian was also known for his frequent use of gingham. Gingham is a delicate print and easy to match. In the movie “The Philapdelphia Story” you can see Katharine Hepburn using a beautiful gingham skirt made of silk organza. I wanted to resemble the same maxi ruffle skirt from the movie but wearing a gingham bra top to add modernity. Summer is the perfect season to wear this look. It’s fresh and comfortable. Another way to style this gingham top is with a high-waisted pair of white pants. You can style the skirt with a white bra top as well. The best part of owning separates is that you can mix, match and layer.
